Blair is a professor of Animal Science in School of Agriculture and Environment at Massey University. He has 43 years teaching & research experience, also was known as an acknowledged expert in animal genetics. His research area mainly contained three parts: 1- Quantitative animal breeding and genetics with an emphasis on the underlying metabolic and physiological processes that underpin genetic changes. 2- The application of animal breeding and genetics to on-farm breeding programmes. 3- The identification of developmentally-programmed phenotypes in sheep and study of the likely mechanisms. He had a long-term interaction with Chinese research institutes and enterprises, and awarded the China National Friendship Award at 2016, awarded High-End Expert by China State Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs at 2013.
